Sir Byron Edmund Walker was a wealthy banker who is best remember for his philanthropic support of the arts. He was a patron of many Canadian educational and cultural institutions such as the University of Toronto, National Gallery of Canada, Art Gallery of Ontario and Royal Ontario Museum.

  Mount Pleasant Cemetery”Sir Byron Edmund Walker died at his residence, “Long Garth,” 99 St. George Street, on March 27, 1924. The following day, before an immense crowd, an impressive funeral service was held in Convocation Hall, after which the body was borne to Mount Pleasant Cemetery for burial.
