Stompin' Tom Connors was known across the country, this singer-songwriter, fiddler and guitarist is a staunch supporter of Canada, its music and musicians. A modern minstrel, he criss-crossed the country chronicling his times and capturing our heritage in song. He leaves behind his wife, Lena, four children and several grandchildren.
A private funeral service and reception was held at Highland Park Funeral Centre on Tuesday, March 12.
A Celebration of his Life was held on Wednesday, March 13 at 7 p.m. at the Peterborough Memorial Centre in Peterborough, Ont. At his request, it was open to the public, and broadcast on national media.
In lieu of flowers, Connors’ family has asked that donations be made to local food banks or homeless shelters, in memory of the musician.

A memorial was held on March 13, 2013 at the Peterborough Memorial Centre in Peterborough, Ontario. Tommy Hunter attended, and the celebration included speeches by former governor general Adrienne Clarkson and Ken Dryden.
